Combination Cooktops

A combination cooktop pairs open gas burners with a griddle plate, chargrill or char broiler on one unit, so your kitchen can boil, fry and grill without needing separate appliances. They’re a popular pick for cafĂ©s, pubs and takeaway shops that need to cook a mixed menu on a tight footprint. Our range includes 2, 4 and 6 burner combination cooktops from B+S, Goldstein and American Range, with griddle, chargrill or char broiler add ons, plus oven range models that build an oven into the base. Most units are configurable, so you can choose burners on the left with the griddle or chargrill on the right, or flip the layout the other way to suit your kitchen line.

Choosing between a griddle, a chargrill and a char broiler comes down to the food you're cooking. A griddle plate gives you a flat, smooth surface that's great for eggs, bacon, pancakes and burger patties, since it holds an even heat and is easy to clean down at the end of a shift. A chargrill or char broiler uses ridged plates or radiant heat to put char marks on steaks, chicken and vegetables, which suits pubs and grill houses chasing that flame grilled flavour. Plenty of kitchens run both, which is why combo units with a griddle on one side and a chargrill on the other are common in our range.

Burner count matters too. A 2 burner combination cooktop suits a smaller café or a satellite kitchen where bench space is limited, while a 6 burner unit gives a busy restaurant kitchen room to run sauces, stocks and pasta pots alongside the grill plate. If you're fitting out from scratch, some of our combination cooktops come as an oven range, with a gas oven built into the stand below the burners and grill plate, so you get three cooking methods in one footprint.

Layout is also worth planning before you order. Many of our combination cooktops let you choose which side the burners sit on, so you can set burners on the left and the griddle or chargrill on the right, or the reverse, depending on how your kitchen line flows and what sits either side of the unit. If layout matters for your build, check the product page or give us a call on 1300 434 125 to confirm configuration options before ordering.

All our combination cooktops are commercial grade, built from stainless steel, and priced ex GST with GST inclusive pricing shown as well so you can budget either way. If you already run a griddle or char grill as a standalone unit and just need extra burner capacity, our standard gas cooktops range might be a simpler fit. For kitchens after a full cooking suite, pair a combination cooktop with one of our oven ranges or browse cooktop accessories like stands, legs and splashbacks to finish the setup.

FAQs

What is a combination cooktop?

A combination cooktop is a commercial cooking unit that combines open gas burners with another cooking surface, usually a griddle plate, chargrill or char broiler, on the one bench top or stand.

What's the difference between a griddle and a chargrill?

A griddle has a flat, solid plate that suits breakfast items, burgers and stir fried food. A chargrill uses ridged plates or open flame to put grill marks and a smoky flavour onto steaks, chicken and vegetables.

Can I get a combination cooktop with an oven built in?

Yes. Some of our combination cooktops are built as oven ranges, with a gas oven in the base below the burners and griddle or chargrill, giving you three cooking methods in one unit.

Are commercial combination cooktops gas or electric?

Most combination cooktops in Australian commercial kitchens run on gas, since it gives faster heat up and better control across burners, griddles and chargrills. Check each product page for gas type and connection details.

What size combination cooktop suits a small café?

A 2 burner combination cooktop with a 300mm griddle or chargrill is a common choice for smaller cafés and takeaway kitchens, since it keeps a compact footprint while still covering grilling and stovetop cooking.

Can I choose which side the burners and griddle are on?

Yes, most combination cooktops are configurable, so you can order burners on the left with the griddle or chargrill on the right, or the other way around, to match the flow of your kitchen line.
