Turbo Air KSR15-2 Salad Bar Fridge 2 Door 1500mm wide

Turbo Air Open Top Salad Bar Fridges | Features, Benefits, Models

If you run a salad bar, sandwich station, sushi counter, noodle bar, deli or buffet service, keeping your ingredients chilled and accessible at the same time is non-negotiable. That’s exactly what the Turbo Air open top salad bar fridge range is built to do. These units combine a refrigerated lower cabinet for bulk ingredient storage with an open top well that holds GN pans of fresh product right at prep level, ready to assemble orders quickly during peak service.

At Ben’s Hospitality Equipment, we stock four models in the Turbo Air KSR series. Here’s a full breakdown to help you choose the right one for your kitchen layout and service volume.

What Makes a Turbo Air Open Top Salad Bar Fridge Different

A standard sandwich prep fridge has a hinged lid that you open to access the ingredient pans on top. A Turbo Air open top buffet table fridge has no lid at all. The top well is fully open, which speeds ingredient access during a busy service. There’s no lid to lift, no hinge to worry about, and staff can reach ingredients with minimal interruption to the workflow. This open design makes these units particularly well-suited to high-throughput venues where speed at the prep station matters, as well as self-serve buffet setups where the open well doubles as a customer-facing display.

All four models in the range share the same core features. They run on R290 eco-friendly natural refrigerant, use Turbo Cooling technology for fast temperature recovery after the top well is accessed, feature a front breathing system so they can be installed without side clearance, and are built with stainless steel interiors and exteriors for easy cleaning and long-term durability. Each unit holds a temperature range of 1°C to 8°C and runs on standard 240V single-phase power, making them straightforward to install in any commercial kitchen.

Turbo Air KSR9-1-N: 900mm Wide Single Door

The KSR9-1-N is the smallest unit in the range and the right starting point for smaller kitchens, compact café counters or venues that are adding a chilled prep station to an existing setup without a large footprint.

At 900mm wide, it holds 6 x 1/3 GN pans in the top open well, giving you enough space for 6 separate ingredients — ideal for a focused sandwich build, sushi rolls, poke bowls or a salad station with a smaller menu. The lower cabinet has a single door and 210 litres of refrigerated storage for bulk ingredient refills. The unit weighs 68kg, is mounted on castors for easy positioning, and is priced at $3,255.00 ex GST, with finance available from $49 per week.

This is the right model for small cafés, juice bars, sushi counters and any venue that needs a chilled prep station but doesn’t have the floor space for a wider unit.

Turbo Air KSR12-2-N: 1200mm Wide Two Door

The KSR12-2-N steps up to 1200mm wide and fits 8 x 1/3 GN pans in the top well. With two doors on the lower cabinet and 320 litres of storage capacity, this is a well-rounded mid-size unit that suits venues running a solid menu with a good variety of fresh ingredients at the station.

The wider footprint gives your prep staff a more comfortable working surface, and the extra GN pan positions mean you can hold more ingredient varieties without needing to swap pans mid-service. This is a practical choice for sandwich shops, noodle bars, takeaway venues and mid-size restaurants that want a reliable prep station with good capacity at a reasonable price. Priced at $3,595.00 ex GST with finance available from $54 per week.

Turbo Air KSR15-2: 1500mm Wide Two Door Salad Bar

The KSR15-2 is the most popular size in the range for good reason. At 1500mm wide with two doors and 420 litres of lower cabinet storage, it holds 12 x 1/3 GN pans in the open top well. That’s enough ingredient positions to run a full salad bar, a comprehensive sandwich and wrap menu, a noodle or Vietnamese rice paper roll station, or a busy café all-day menu without running out of space at the prep line.

The left-side mounted compressor and front breathing system mean this unit can be installed flush against a wall or in a tight kitchen run without any side clearance required. The unit is 1500 x 700 x 860mm, weighs 91kg and runs at 314W, making it an energy-efficient choice for a large prep table. Priced at $3,935.00 ex GST with finance available from $55 per week.

This is the model we’d recommend to most venues as a first choice. It gives you real capacity without taking up too much kitchen floor space, and the 12 pan positions handle the majority of menu setups comfortably.

Turbo Air KSR18-3-N: 1800mm Wide Three Door Buffet Table

The KSR18-3-N is the largest unit in the range and is built for high-volume commercial kitchens and buffet-style service. At 1800mm wide with three doors on the lower cabinet, this unit provides maximum ingredient holding capacity across the top well and generous refrigerated storage below for bulk product backup.

This model is suited to hotel buffet setups, large restaurant prep lines, catering kitchens, food courts and any venue where multiple staff work the prep station simultaneously and the ingredient turnover is high. The wider top surface also gives chefs more room to assemble complex dishes and plating during a busy service. Priced at $4,624.00 ex GST with finance available from $70 per week.

Key Features Shared Across the Range

All four Turbo Air KSR models include automatic defrost, easy-grip recessed door handles, heavy-duty PE coated wire shelves, a digital temperature controller with LED readout, a front-access condenser filter for easy cleaning, and castors for mobility. The R290 refrigerant used across the range is a low global warming potential refrigerant, which is increasingly important for venues working toward more sustainable operations.

The 3-year parts and labour warranty across the range is also worth noting. For commercial kitchen equipment running day in and day out in a hot kitchen environment, that warranty coverage provides genuine peace of mind.

Which Model Should You Choose?

The right model comes down to two things: how many ingredient positions you need on top, and how much bulk refrigerated storage you need below.

For a focused menu with 6 or fewer ingredients at the station, the KSR9-1-N at 900mm is the practical choice. For a mid-size menu with 8 ingredients, the KSR12-2-N at 1200mm hits the sweet spot. For a full salad bar or comprehensive café menu, the KSR15-2 at 1500mm with 12 pan positions is the model most kitchens end up wanting. And for high-volume venues, buffet services or large prep lines, the KSR18-3-N at 1800mm delivers the capacity needed to keep service moving.

All four models are in stock at Ben’s Hospitality Equipment with Australia-wide delivery. Finance is available on all units through SilverChef Rent-Try-Buy, starting from $49 per week ex GST.
